Texas A&M University is the first and largest university in Texas, and one of the largest in the country. It was founded in 1876. The Texas A&M culture is a product of the university's founding as a rural military and agricultural school. Although the school and surrounding community have grown, and military training is no longer required, the school's history has instilled in students "the idealized elements of a small-town life: community, tradition, loyalty, optimism, and unabashed sentimentality.
The school's athletic teams, the Aggies, compete in 18 different sports in the Southeast Conference. Aggie football fans are called the 12th man, meaning that they support the 11 players on the field and would be willing, if it were possible, to enter the game if necessary. To further symbolize their "readiness, desire, and enthusiasm," it is traditional for students in attendance to stand throughout the game.
This piece is the classic Aggies logo constructed from 3 layers of aluminum, Maroon on the top and back and vintage white in the middle with some slight fades.
